The annual report covers the period January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015.

The annual meeting on April 17, 2015, elected this board for Wikimedia Norway:

  • Hogne Neteland: chair
  • Guro Faller: deputy chair
  • Trond Trosterud: board member, treasurer
  • Tove Eivindsen: board member
  • Harald Groven: board member
  • Knut Hjelleset: board member
  • Tore Sætre: deputy board member

These members were appointed for electoral and audit committee :

  • Anne-Sophie Ofrim
  • Espen Granli
  • Erlend Bjørtvedt

Anne-Sophie Ofrim resigned from the committee in May 2015 and was replaced by a new member:

  • Trygve Nodeland.

Electoral and audit Committee worked to improve the gender balance in the Board and Nomination and Audit Committee in its efforts to find candidates who stood for election.

The statutory auditor was "Stokke Revisjon".

The work

During the period Wikimedia Norway held 12 board meetings.

The Board has prepared a Strategy for the years 2016 to 2020.

Board members of Wikimedia Norway visited during the period Wikimedia Armenia and Wikimedia Ukraine. Wikimedia Norway attended the Wikimedia Conference in Berlin in May 2015. Wikimedia Norway had no representatives on Wikimania 2015 in Mexico City, but delivered a contribution to the conference which was presented by Wikimedia Israel.

The board of Wikimedia Norway has in 2015 made important changes in the organization for better interaction with the administration. The Board has allocated funds so that Wikimedia Norway now has permanent employees and board employees Astrid Carlsen as Executive director. The Board has made an agreement with an accounting firm, Oslo Regnskap. The Board was active in planning the Wikipedia Academy. The Board was represented by the Minister of Culture when Sparebankstiftelsen DNB freed Arne Knudsen collection of images. The Board was represented at the Europa Nostra in Oslo City Hall in June 2015. In the period the Board planned for celebration of Wikipedia's fifteen years that later was celebrated on January 15, 2016.

Board work for a better membership list in the organization, and to serve the members better.

The Board and the Electoral and Audit Committee wants the Annual meeting to split the Committee into two separate committees: Electoral committee and Audit committee.

The Board is satisfied with the work done by the administration. The Board believes that the cooperation between the Board, management, volunteers and Electoral and Audit Committee has worked well in 2015.

Economy

The main contribution to the economy was funding from Wikimedia Foundation Funds Dissemination Committee of NOK 1.295 million from July 2014 to June 2015 and NOK 1.23 million from July 2015 to June 2016. Wikimedia Norway also received funding from the Fritt Ord Foundation, Finance Market Fund and NUUG. Wikimedia Norway also receive membership fees and donations from private individuals. The turnover in 2015 was NOK 1 389 909. The result was NOK 231,400, where 100,000 were provisions in connection with entering into contracts on permanent employment (end fund).

After input from the auditor and the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikimedia Norway in August 2015 signed an agreement with the accounting firm Oslo Regnskap, by Hege Engen. The accounting system used is Paperless. In September 2015 a representative of the Foundation visited Wikimedia Norway to audit the new accounting procedures. He ensured they were in place and meet the Foundation on their requirements.

Wikimedia Norway joined in 2015 into Frivillighetsregisteret and TechSoup Norway.

Wikimedia Norway's work

Wikimedia Norway has in 2015 cooperated with the The National Archives of Norway, The Directorate for Cultural Heritage, The National Library, The Nobel Peace Center, University of Oslo, University of Tromsø, Girl Geek Dinners (Oslo and Trondheim), The Research Council, The Norwegian Institute of Local history and a number of other university and college libraries.

Wikimedia Norway visited eleven university and college libraries in 2015 and had Wikipedia training for female students and staff. The project was conducted with funding from the Fritt Ord Foundation and the The Finance Market Fund (Finansmarkedsfondet).

Wikimedia Norway alone, or together with partners, organized, or paid for, twenty events, seminars or guided tours in 2015. These include events for volunteers at the National Library, at the National Archives and at the Nobel Peace Center.

Wikipedia Academy was in April 2015 organized together with the University of Tromsø.

Photo contest Wiki Loves Monuments was in September 2015 organized jointly with the Directorate for Cultural Heritage and with jury effort also by Preus Museum.

Wikimedia Norway has had three students in practice in 2015. Two students from Oslo and Akershus University College and one from Karlstad University. A student from the University of Oslo writes thesis on the basis of project Wikimedia Norway had published in Science Shop of the University of Oslo.

During 2015 Wikimedia Norway redesigned no.wikimedia.org and introduced youtube and instagram channels. Wikimedia Norway has some 1500 followers on facebook and 1500 followers on twitter.
