I want to represent Wikimedia Norge in Wikimania 2016. I have attended five Wikimania events so far: 2009 in Buenos Aires, 2010 in Gdansk, 2011 in Haifa, 2013 in Hong Kong, and 2014 in London. I have experience in this kind of events and I have been a Wikipedian for 10 years now.
I would like to apply for a scholarship that will cover my round trip from Trondheim to Milan. I have been awarded a partial scholarship by Wikimedia Foundation, so accommodation and the registration fee are already included in the scholarship I got from WMF. Please notice that the earlier I book the flight, the cheaper it is. I have seen flights as cheap as 2.300 NOK.
I would like to represent Norway and Wikimedia Norge there. I can take shirts, products there, etc.
- Update: NTNU (Norges Teknisk Naturvitenskapelige Universitet) would like to participate in the event with this talk. It's for my Master thesis on "Language mixing in English-to-Spanish translations on Wikipedia". The study will focus on Translation tools, attitudes towards English Wikipedia and the status of texts, plus choices made by wiki-translators/editors, etc. I think it is important as this thesis will focus primarily on Wikipedia and results from the discussion/talk will be used (anonymously) to carry out the experiment and come up with (I hope) interesting conclusions. Also, NTNU has taken special interest in translation on Wikipedia. This can be done in collaboration with our chapter Wikimedia Norge and it can be part of our programme. Please notice that this talk has to be revised and approved by the Wikimania Esino Lario Committee. I will keep you updated.
